Chicken Cutlet

It was a cloudy saturday morning and life was as usual mundane with all the monotonous tasks. We suddenly planned an one-day outing. We had heard a lot about Daman ,a tourist spot located aound 170 km away from Mumbai. So we decided to take a break from our daily boring lives and explore the beauty of Mother Nature. We packed our bags and started off for a drive to Daman around 10 in the morning. The onward journey was a fabulous one - white, flaky clouds, light drizzles, green, dense forests on either side of the wide smooth roads and the soothing sun-rays behind the horizon. It looked like a perfect Saturday !! We reached Daman around 3 in the afternoon . The place however turned out to be a big let-down & we therefore decided to leave for Mumbai immediately since it was a long drive back. The return journey however turned out to be an adventure of its own kind. Heavy rains, dark unlit highway full of pot-holes, partially done road-repair works & a blurred vision due to the mist & heavy humidity outside. We started getting anxious. On the highway, we passed by around four accidents. Suddenly at one point, two policemen stopped our car, peeped in and asked for a lift. My hubby agreed even before I could raise an objection and they got into the car. I could not resist blurting out 'Raat ko lift dena bahut risky hai'. They answered back 'Nahi mam kabhi public ko aise highway par lift mat dena'. I was scared and started praying - ugly thoughts kept popping-up - what if they were robbers in fake police uniforms, what if they were to stop us midway, rob us of everything and even kill us in case we resisted and so on...

Suddenly one of them commented from the rear seat 'Idhar kabhi kabhi musafiron ko loot leta hai, gaari ke saath, pehele bahut zaada hota tha, aabhi highway patrol ne kaafi control kiya hai'. My face became pale and my arms & feet became cold with fear & I could even feel my heart beating faster. Again another voice said 'sahab aage ke 1 km right lane se chaliye, left lane bahut kharab hai'. After sometime again one of them cropped up 'aage ke kareeb 2km left lane se chaliye' and so on - they gradually kept guiding us which was really helpful under those testing driving conditions. My hubby kept asking them about their duty timings, their jurisdictional area and their residential locations. Finally we reached the toll-gate wherein one of them said 'Sahab paisa dene ki zaroorat nahi hai, humko dekhke woh paisa nahin lenge'. One more ugly thought popped-up - Oh!! this toll-gate guy might be a part of their gang.

Finally, one voice saved my anxiety 'Rukiye sahab, Thank-you'.One of them got down .Now felt better . After 10 minutes another guy 'Mujhe idhar utarna hai'. I got my life back. we both were mum for a minute and then I heard 'I have done a mistake'.My hubby was repenting, had these guys were fake we would have lost everything today..might be our lives.Anyway, its really important to take right decision while travelling and far from your comfort zone. Our circumstances sometime bound us not to help people though they need it or activity reflects inhumanity.Sunday morning Wanted to bring back joy and vivacity in our life and its very easy .Prepared chicken cutlet. There is a saying, happiness of a man comes straight through stomach. What am I waiting for? my friends are waiting for this recipe.
